Snowdrops at Hyde open gardens fundraiser
During two Sundays in February, more than 100 hardy visitors braved wind, rain and muddy paths to wander through the breathtaking snowdrop gardens of Hyde, all in support of Horsfall House. Even February’s fiercest downpour couldn’t deter our supporters or the keen galanthophiles who came out in force. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we’re delighted to share that more than £1,400 was raised to help us continue providing high‑quality, affordable care for our community.
A heartfelt thank you to the incredibly kind owners and residents of Hyde House Cottage, Hyde House, The Walled Garden, Ivy Cottage, Hyde Court and Hyde End for opening their gates and sharing their glorious winter displays. We’re also grateful to local historian Richard for bringing Hyde’s fascinating heritage to life, and to resident expert Dan for another brilliant Connoisseurs’ Corner. Special appreciation goes to Frances and Tricia for their snowdrop expertise and warm hospitality.
This year’s event also featured exclusive prints, cards and S. Arnott snowdrop plants to take home – a lovely way for visitors to keep a little piece of Hyde in their gardens.
And of course, a huge thank you to our amazing Community Fundraising volunteers. Their cheerfulness in the rain, marshalling skills, warm welcomes and delicious homemade cakes kept everything running smoothly. We truly couldn’t do it without them.
If you’d like to get involved in future events or support Horsfall House in another way, we’d love to hear from you. Contact our fundraiser, Sarah Jackson here. Missed the open days? You can still enjoy a glimpse into Hyde’s history on our website here and join us again in February 2027.
