Making a Difference: Horsfall House hosts engagement evening
Horsfall House welcomed relatives and friends of its residents and clients on Thursday 4th September for its first Making a Difference event – a heartwarming evening bringing together families, staff and trustees to share stories, ideas and the charity’s vision for the future.
From meaningful conversations to shared stories, the evening was filled with connection, insight and community spirit. Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet, met staff and trustees and explored the exciting projects shaping the future of Horsfall House.
Duncan Wood, Chair of Trustees, who welcome guests and spoke about what it means to be a trustee, said: “We were truly grateful for the thoughtful feedback, questions and ideas shared throughout the evening. Events like this are important in helping us understand the needs and aspirations of our community. We hope to roll out similar events across the community throughout 2026, as this will help shape the future direction of the Horsfall House charity and together, we can make a difference.”
Additional presentations were made by Andy Caudell, Horsfall House CEO, on the charity’s five-year strategy; Nicky Priest, Nursing Services Director and Jo Shaw, Nursing Manager, who explained the current developments within the nursing home, and Kate Charsley, a trustee whose father Dr Chris Booth was the inspiration behind Horsfall House, who gave a presentation on the history and philosophy behind Horsfall.
Andy Caudell said: “We are delighted to have hosted our first Making a Difference event. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, share our vision and celebrate the incredible work being done across Horsfall House. The warmth and engagement from everyone who attended truly reflects the spirit of our community and we look forward to building on this momentum in the months ahead.”
The Horsfall House charity provides support to ensure there are funded beds in the nursing home for those who cannot afford the full cost of care; offers transport for those in the community who otherwise could not travel to the day centre; supports Horsfall@Home home care services, and supports ongoing improvements to the home for the benefit of all users and to ensure the home’s ongoing sustainability.
