Children are an invaluable part of life at Horsfall House and so you can imagine our delight when we were contacted by the staff at Beaudesert Park School letting us know that they wanted to support us by having some of their students come and spend time with our residents on a weekly basis.
Both the staff team and of course, our residents look forward to these visits each week, with the joy and laughter from the children echoing along our corridors long after they have left.
Academically backed research shows that spending time with children can provide numerous benefits for the elderly. Interactions with younger generations can bring joy, laughter, and a sense of purpose to their lives.
It promotes cognitive stimulation and mental acuity by engaging in activities together. Additionally, it fosters a sense of connection and belonging, reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation. Furthermore, reminiscing about their own childhood can evoke positive memories and enhance emotional well-being. Overall, time spent with children can greatly improve the quality of life for the elderly.
In addition to visiting, the school also put on a special brass concert at the school that some of our residents were able to go along for. So thank you Beaudesert Park School for choosing to support Horsfall House and for enriching the lives of our residents.
