Shakespeare under the sun: A magical evening with As You Like It
Despite the soaring summer temperatures, the enchanting gardens of Horsfall House were transformed into a stage of laughter, wit and romance on Thursday evening as the Festival Players delivered a dazzling performance of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It.
A talented cast of just five actors captivated the audience with their energy, humour and charm, bringing the Bard’s beloved comedy to life in spectacular fashion (and fashion faux pas!) with accompanying music written by local singer-songwriter, Johnny Coppin. More than 70 guests braved the heat to enjoy a picnic-style evening, supporting both Horsfall House and the Festival Players in a truly memorable theatrical fundraiser.
Additionally, the event featured a luxury hamper raffle, generously donated by Jean Mounsey, that helped raise a fantastic £700 in support of Horsfall House. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the evening.
We are especially grateful to our wonderful volunteers, Jean Gotts, Liz Chapman, Duncan Wood, and our dedicated staff for their support that makes events like this possible.
We hope to see you again next year for more theatrical moments under the sun!
