Margaret is our General Manager. After qualifying as a Registered Nurse at Guy’s Hospital, London she consolidated her clinical and management experience in the fields of medicine, surgery, oncology, palliative and end of life care, allowing her to progress to a number of Matron and Director of Nursing positions.
Margaret says she feels very fortunate to be the General Manager here at Horsfall House, not least because she meets so many special people every day, with Horsfall House and the wider community.
Margaret’s statutory role is to ensure all the work at Horsfall House is carried out within the framework of prevailing health and social care legislation and the regulations of our professional bodies and that we are always respectful, positive, imaginative and compassionate.
Her responsibilities are to listen to, communicate with, inform, support and guide users of our services, their families and friends, staff, volunteers,professional colleagues, contractors and suppliers – our CQC report says she does it very well!
When not at work Margaret enjoys being with her family and she is also a keen gardener.
Nicola is our Assistant General Manager. Nicola started her care career whilst her family were growing up. Nicola worked at Gloucester Royal Hospital for 12 years on the renal ward following some care home experience. Nicola worked her way through NVQ training and won a sponsorship to complete her nurses training. Nicola returned to the hospital and worked her way up to a ward sister.
Following on from 8 years’ experience within care homes in Gloucestershire in posts as Deputy Managers and Home Managers, Nicola joined Horsfall House in November 2019. Nicola says she is fortunate to have joined a team of dedicated staff and to support the General Manager in day to day business and able to use her nursing knowledge to support and work with the staff and residents.
When not at work Nicola enjoys being a grandparent and spending time with her 3 daughters. Nicola also likes to bake, craft activities, theatre, gardening and travelling to Malta.
Diane has been Home Care Manager at Horsfall House since 2006 and believes passionately that all service users should have their care tailored to their own individual needs and requirements and that everyone visited has the opportunity to remain in their own homes for as long as they want.
Diane is a Law graduate, an Institute of Healthcare Management accredited Manager at executive level and holds the Registered Managers Award and Dementia Leader qualification. She has a keen interest in the wider world of care and is a “Proud To Care” Mentor and Coach, helping support new and aspiring managers.
Diane lives with her husband and rescue Bull Lurcher, Skye, has two grown up children and enjoys yoga and riding.
Emma has worked in the Day Centre at Horsfall House since 2003 after the birth of her daughter. Emma first started as a Care Assistant to provide physical and stimulating activities and support individuals with their personal care needs. She progressed over the years to build on her career within the Unit eventually becoming the Day Centre Manager in September 2019. Emma has gained Qualifications within Horsfall House in Health and Social Care level 2 and 3, ILM Team Leader level 2, VRQ level 2 in Health and Safety and Infection Control and she is also the infection control link for her unit. Emma has an exceptional team of Carers, Drivers and volunteers that are supportive, hardworking and committed to ensure individuals are cared for in a friendly and safe environment. Emma refers to the Day Centre as a “Nest” where we keep clients safe and happy.
