Horsfall House shines at the Gloucestershire Care Providers awards
We’re thrilled to share that Horsfall House has been recognised across multiple categories at this year’s Gloucestershire Care Providers Awards that highlight the successes across social care in Gloucestershire. Its purpose is to pay tribute to those who go above and beyond their duties to serve the vulnerable in the county.
Social Care Nurse of the Year – Winner: Sue McIntyre, Cotswold Unit
Sue, a cherished member of our nursing dementia unit since 2002, was honoured for her unwavering commitment and care. Through 23 years’ of service, including during the height of COVID, Sue has shown extraordinary resilience, compassion and teamwork. Her dedication to residents, especially during palliative care, and her support for colleagues make her truly one of a kind. We are so proud to celebrate Sue’s remarkable contribution and she now goes forward as a nominee for the Great British Care Awards.
The Dementia Award – Highly Commended: Day Centre
As the only remaining Day Centre in the Stroud area, our team support up to 25 clients daily, many living with dementia. With more than 80 years of combined experience, the team delivers personalised and responsive care with joyful, engaging activities that bring comfort and connection to all who attend. This award is a testament to their empathy, professionalism and impact.
Volunteer of the year Award – Highly Commended: Kate Charsley
Kate’s connection to Horsfall House runs deep as not only is she a Trustee and our Treasurer, but her father, Dr. Booth, helped found our home over 30 years ago. Kate and her family continue his legacy with tireless dedication, fundraising and leadership, to ensure Horsfall House retains its charitable status and remains a vital community service. Her recognition is a beautiful tribute to her generosity and vision.
